Denise's background
I have a nursing background with experience in spinal injury care,
orthopaedics and cardiology. I became interested in complementary
therapy after meeting Simon. I subsequently qualified as a Reflex
Therapist in 1986 at the Midland School of Reflex Therapy. Then three
years ago I studied Metamorphic Technique and gained certification
to give sessions. Finally, I qualified with a distinction in Aromatherapy
Massage at the Shirley Price International College of Aromatherapy
in July 2001. I am now qualified in Clinical Aromatherapy (Aromatology)
and training in CranioSacral Therapy (CST), as well as Spinal Reflexology
and Indian Head Massage having attended both the latter courses in
2007.
Aromatherapy Massage
Used correctly aromatherapy can achieve balance and harmony of the mind, body and spirit. Essential oils may be classed as pro-life because they can actually strengthen living tissue whilst killing off germs.
When massage and essential oils are combined they can have a powerful and synergistic effect upon the whole body. The benefits of the essential oils are released into the body quickly via inhalation, which are then continued by absorption through the skin during massage.
The blend of oils that are right for you can made up for you to take home further enhanceing their effect after your treatment.
Reflex Therapy
Reflex Therapy has existed as a form of medicine for over four thousand years and is ideal for those seeking relief from symptoms associated with a wide variety of conditions. It is derived from the knowledge that the feet, hands and other areas are a miniature reflection of the body, containing reflexes which form a link with the rest of the body via vertical lines of energy.
These lines of energy can be affected by physical, mental or emotional tension resulting in varying forms of illness, which may be detected and treated on the feet and can promote deep relaxation, pain relief and help restore health. With touch and gentle massage of these reflexes the body is stimulated to release chemicals which effectively inhibit pain and reduce tension, facilitating the natural process of recovery.
Metamorphic Technique
Within each of us lies the potential for change. Metamorphic Technique provides the conditions by which we may achieve this, a space free of direction or external influence.
The practitioner uses a light touch on the feet, hands and head. The contact provided is gentle and undemanding, offering a pleasant and very relaxing experience.
A session usually lasts 60 minutes, there is no need to take a case history or to get undressed.
Spinal Reflexology
Spinal Reflexology is a powerful form of reflexology which stimulates the spinal reflexes on the feet. A nerve root exits through the vertebrae to reach specific organs and muscles and Spinal Reflexology can identify the organs in the body that are not functioning optimally. It can work on the spinal reflexes and help to correct imbalances in parts, organs and systems of the body.
With Reflexology a condition can often take many treatments to achieve positive results but with the use of Spinal Reflexology its possible to treat the direct reflex and also access the peripheral nerves to a specific organ or part of the body, giving a more effective treatment.
Indian Head Massage
IHM is a stress relieving therapy which concentrates on the muscular tissues of the neck, shoulders, scalp and face to relax or stimulate the upper body. It provides relief for both mental and physical stress. It stimulates and improves scalp circulation to help hair growth, removes jaw tension, mobilises the tissues of the shoulders and neck and instils a sense of peace and tranquility.
The sense of well-being that follows a treatment has to be experienced to be appreciated. It is particularly good for wheelchair users as it is performed in your chair.
Cranio Sacral Therapy
CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John Upledger.
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning
of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised
of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect
the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the
weight of a 5p piece, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral
system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is effective
for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
Denise has taken level 1 of the CST course and will shortly undertake
level 2. Take this opportunity to benefit from this treatment at a
reduced student rate of 20€ while she is practising the basic
technique.
